i was super excited for it from day 1, though my computer wasn't good enough for 1.0 so i only got to play a little of it. avidly played 2.0, and then kinda cooled on it- playing a bit but never really sticking to it- until around shb when i picked it back up. i'd had a car accident and had a year or so of physical therapy ahead of me, needed a timesink to stay sane. i made some friends- first time i'd ever actually managed this via an mmo- and those friends are still my friends today over 5 years later, even if most of them don't play xiv anymore.
