I was a few miles away hitting balls at a driving range near Gig Harbor. I saw the fighter jets fly over me, then I heard the explosion when he crashed.

In hindsight it was symbolic of where I my life was heading. Shortly after that I was forced to take a job in Southern California leading to my divorce and living 1000 miles from my kids. It's been hell.
