Whatever Kris' inhibitions to letting us make the piano sound good, Susie calls him out on that in your picrel, and essentially forced him to play "correctly".
It's also an implication that Kris, voluntarily, can move us along the correct path without our input 100% of the time but is very easily sandbagging the journey.
