I don't think he will be "elected" again. Not unless something goes wrong in Putin's process of choosing the next president.
Putin is Russia's connection to the Soviet Union still. Russia needs "fresh blood", including at the highest levels. Putin's biggest achievement (and biggest mistake if he fails) would be not helping a new generation take over power in Russia.
