Who taught you that answer?
When I was 16, I had to nurse a kitten that was abandoned by his mother in the dirt for 2 days and didn't manage to recieve any colostrum, his odds of survival were extremely low but I tried to save him anyway.
He didn't make it after 4 weeks of day and night nursing, his gut bacteria simply didn't develop properly and he died to an infection that couldn't be cured.
I had no one I could tell how I felt beside an online anon at the time.
He told me the exact same things. I was extremely depressed but that simple message really did cheer me up, even if instead of 18 years it was only 4 weeks.
