It's subtle enough, but you can see that the guy cares for her. The fact that he constantly spends time with the girl at all when he could easily just go "gtfo bitch" shows he likes her ptesence.

He also does a bunch of stuff like installing stuff on her house, setting up a drum game she wants. Then you have the girl progressing into being less of an airhead, even doing stuff like teasing him back.
