You are not wrong but it is crazy how much people focus on Curze being a fatalist especially given the setting he is in. Every conversation about him seemingly devolves to how the depressed lunatic didn't hold Sanguinius' hand and sing kumbaya throughout the heresy. He absolutely could have fought against fate (in my opinion) but for him to do so it would invalidate core tenants of his character and in-universe he starts having to believe the lie out of sheer need not to kill himself, if he accepts that he is criminal then he will kill himself which he does end up doing but he does it in a way that gives him one final spiteful act against the father who created him to be a monster.
