Israel just wants a war as big as possible to prevent elections for Netanyahu.
Iran is a mostly peaceful nation that won't escalate and they even said so, they just retalliate in kind.

Trump knows this.
So he drops large bombs on Iran's Nuclear facilities and immediately declares Iran's nuclear capabilities are gone. It doesn't matter whether it's true or not.

Afterwards he announces he will gladly sit at a table with Iran and negotiate future non-proliferation.

At that point we're back to square 1, before Israel's attack, and Iran-USA negotiations can be had peacefully.

Netanyahu is robbed of his casus belli and he can no longer escalate the conflict.

I hope I'm right, it would make sense.
