I grew up on Mega Man games, Loved Classic, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, wasn't a huge battle network fan. I loved 9, thought 11 was great one of the best, but I'm really not super interested in X9 or 12, or really any of the side-scrollers coming back. I'd still buy and play them because they're Mega Man, and like yeah I love Mega Man but it does kinda feel played out at this point and the idea of just playing another 2~4 hour side-scroller just isn't super appealing when there's about a million of these games on Steam now a lot of which are creative and trying new takes on the formula.

Legends I feel has more potential, that was like a glimpse into what Mega Man could have evolved into. I don't think the Legends games were particularly great but if Mega Man is to be relevant today I think it'd have to be more like Legends than the rest of the series. I kinda look at the other games from the NES like Zelda and Mario and see how they stayed relevant by reinventing themselves and trying to envision what Mega Man would have to look like to have games of the caliber of BOTW and Odessey, games that can sell millions in our current market and give people a lengthy and satisfying experience and well that game, the one I can envision anyway, looks the most like Legends. I could see other Capcom series like Dead Rising, Lost Planet, serving as inspiration for what it could look like. Maybe something like Vanquish too.

If I were to hop into a universe where Mega Man was still relevant and popular what would his games look like and play like? What games would it be similar to? For some reason I can't see games like Classic or X resonating with people today and selling millions. What do you think? Do you just want to see Mega Man again or do you only want Mega Man in a familiar established form? I think if Mega Man is to be successful again it would have to be in a new form we haven't seen before. I'm just interested is how you would envision this Mega Man. 2020s Mega Man.
