The Cabin Fever Labs scientists that were studying the Absolute Solver in an attempt to understand the entity and develop the Crucifix Patch to excorcize hosts of its possession seemed pretty capable of keeping the Solver host test subjects contained as long as they are still themselves and not under possession. Like you said, there's multiple failsafes they were using while getting the Solver Host ready to be hit with the crucifix - like the giant electromagnet and the UV floodlights (as the Solver is harmed by sunlight).
Strong enough electronagnetic fields only effect the Host body, not the Solver itself like you said. This has much more of an effect when the Host is not possessed, but when the Solver is in control it doesn't give a shit about the limitations of the host's robot body. Stuff like the electromagnet and UV floodlights only serve to slow the Solver down for a little bit, not keep it contained. The moment that Nori was fully possessed during Cabin Fever's attempt to use the Crucifix on her, the Solver started immediately breaking free of the restraints, and kept trying to kill everyone in the room despite Nori's body being completely flattened against the ground by the floor electromagnet while UV lights burn the Solver's appendages. And all that serves to hold it off for maybe a few minutes, as only minutes later The Solver has killed everyone in the room and assimilated their still living flesh into the fleshpit that it's made in the ground leading right down into the planet's core.
