He has butchered many instances of his original work by reinventing it, retconning it or outright changing the lore origins to suit his needs. He has routinely forgotten certain aspects and tenets of said lore, and continously reinvents new tidbits on a whim. (Ex: 2014 Boo retcon vs 2024 Boo Retcon)
He has allowed for the animation studio to purposefully try to recreate the SOVL of the 80s/90s adaptation in comparison to actually creating something new without harking back on the previous. He has allowed for his fanartist client (Toyotaro), to trace from his work without credit and remake old arcs and villains, which in turn sets modern Dragon Ball on a repetitive cycle to try and surpass its predecessors, unsuccessfully. In contrast of going forward with his ideas, he lets the yes men in each ear slip in poisonous material to adapt old characters and arcs out of nostalgia factor, which comes in the form of rehashes, fanservice forms and the like. (Ex: Nuly, NuSSJ4, SSJ3 Bejita, Gohan Blanco (Beast), Fan-editey Piccolo (Orange), Evil Goku Goku Black), Cell (Moro), Susanoo (MUI Avatar), Blue Vegetto (again), etc.)
All of these he has approved the implementation of into his story, no matter how contrived, sloppy, or fanmade it makes modern Dragon Ball appear, nor at how it ties in with any of the characters or the story itself. All of this creates the aura of lack of substance that is apparent in every single tale in modern Dragon Ball.
