>"ugh monkeys suck"
>"uugh you're being such a typical monkey right now."
>"I hate being here"
It's always the same thing. Who thought this was a good idea for a companion? Most of the ornery companions in other games had something else going for them like humor or they warm up to you later or something. She goes to the grave never touching you and always thinking you're just a slightly better monkey relatively speaking. It's absurd.

I'm a fan of several of the less popular romances in various games but even I can't get behind this one.

Like if she started out super racist but then by the end was affectionate I would get it, that's a solid trope, but she always throws up in her mouth when she thinks of touching you even after the epilogues and almost all of her endings are bad.

I think the constant complaining is the worst part. She complains about you, your ship, your party, your crew, she complains when you ask her to participate in quests, she complains when you speak to her. It gets really old.

A romance doesn't need sex to be interesting/fulfilling/well written. Visas Marr already did the no touching meditation romance two decades ago and that was great. FFG says no sex and she's among my favorite videogame gals ever. Tali Zorah literally dies if you take her suit off and look how popular she is. There are fulfilling romances without sex. It's her attitude about everything.

She's okay in combat, but even in combat, all of her lines are literally complaining or being snarky about interacting with you, the player. It's her resenting that she's even here at all again.

I swear, people just see an elf and go googoo gaga awooga. That's it. Yrliet is unironically insufferable personality wise.

A lot of this applies to Camelia by the way. She at least genuinely likes you and saves you by running away, but she's still an abjectly evil serial killer and people just see an elf and say awooga and their brain turns off. Owlcat baits these people in every game.
