Bad game design. Side missions should be obvious and marked. Hiding them from the public is a bad design.
You should not need internet help to complete 100% of the game

If a game requires you to look up online for "hidden" secrets and mechanics that are not explained in the game itself, I'm sorry but I'm not playing it
I wont even pirate it.

During my PS2 days I never ever wasted my time on forums or gamesfaq. The game should leave the studio as a complete package.
If game requires internet "tips" and is tied to a sign in online connection, it means the game has bad design
