While I argue on Nasu, Sakurai definitely never could. Sakurai is incapable of writing a couple after they get together. To the point Sigurd and Bryn are essentially the same joke over and over while Aslaug got goddamn memory loss.
Meanwhile Siegfried and Kriemhild retroactively fixed Siegfried's assisted suicide (to prevent a war in the buildup), had to force them to face their problems caused by it and Kriemhild consistently got participation beyond fawning over him, as a nagging mom to suicidal heroes and child servants. Sigurd at least got an interlude confused over his performance, but Brynhild's character just fucking froze and I don't have much hope for Aslaug.
