There was a famous documentary series that was banned in the U.K. back in the 80s. It can now be viewed on YouTube (except the first episode, which the government had destroyed). The two episodes that caused the big stir was one focusing on secret early I.T. surveillance and the now destroyed one (focusing on secret parlimentary cabinets). Watching it in retrospect the nost shocking one was the detailed plans on how the government can implement "security" measurements in the event of civil unrest or ethnic tensions. Mobile quick reaction internment camps, pre-selected populaces, people and regions etc. It's also unnerving how much of it came to pass (and in the case of the episode on digital tracking, is completely common place now).
