My answer is to cling to the sublime. I'm not going to speak on religion or spiritual matters, but instead aim for the closest thing in terms of society: do something amazing that people will love. Bring love back into the world.
I'm restoring a film that has been incomplete for decades, going on five soon, that should make people happy, yes? That is what I'm about. I am happy that *I* can help make others happy, and that feeds my ego, admittedly. Inherently sinful? I don't know, but I do know that I wish to see smiling faces. I want to know it's partly because of me, but it's not about me.

The reason is they're full of pride and since they can't understand the Bible (or rather deliberately misinterpret it), that it's proof for there being no God. They don't even understand basic logic or burden of proof.
