So Sans just happens to move into Hometown the same day someone there hijacks Gaster's Goner Maker experiment and the soul to is connected to Kris instead, and Sans just happens to stand around Kris as much as he can without raising suspicion, and Sans just happens to try to get close and chummy with Kris's parents as much as possible which just so happens to give him an opening to watch Kris more closely.
