I think it's an ok spin. A mundane thing plus horror is always neat. Imagine a Qu like force that sees humanity in a way we see for example ants. You know they are there and live their weird lives but you pay very little attention to them. Then imagine one day you accidentaly pee on the anthill(those of lesser kind). For you it's a thing you did (you might feel bad even) but then you go doing your thing and forget it. But for ants it was an apocalyptic event.
