A resident of Voronezh whose son died in the war received flags and a T-shirt instead of financial support
A mother of Lieutenant Vladimir Degtyaryov (he’s on our list [link]) who died in April last year “while performing tasks for the ‘special military operation’” contacted us.
She officially received notification of his death from the military enlistment office on June 23, 2024, and immediately turned to the draft office for explanations and at least minimal support — “moral, financial, any kind.”
At the enlistment office, they told her they were “sincerely sorry” and that they would send her a package as a sign of support. The woman waited for a year for the package and… she received a T-shirt and some flags.
Nothing more, no details, no real help.
When I called again, they replied: “That’s how it is for now. There will be a delay with the money — maybe for another year”!!!!!!!!!!
I have no words. It’s hard for me not only emotionally, but also physically and financially. Losing a loved one is an irreparable wound. But when they spit in your face on top of it, it hurts twice as much!!
And that’s exactly how it works in our country: they print slogans like “We don’t abandon our own” and pictures of Iskander missiles on T-shirts, but in reality you get flags as “support” and fundraising for trench candles.
