>Green book
as true to the Golden Dawn tradition as possible outside of the lodge setting. the pace is the same as for someone progressing through a real GD lodge; be prepared to do just the LRP in it's various forms throughout outer order (almost the entire book). also be prepared to have a LOT of clutter, this one is implement-heavy. lengthy rituals, a lot of memorisation, but will give you a feeling od being a legit GD magician if you're willing to put in the effort
>Red book
not true Golden Dawn, but many say this is a valid and effective curriculum to self-initiate. you will start doing planetary magic early on, which is something you wouldn't see in real GD. less clutter than the Green book. some people hate on Mr. Christopher, some people really love his work.
>Blue (?) book
still GD-based, but a lot lighter. you won't have lengthy rituals in this one. more like a companion to help you build your ritual efficiency, but will still have you work with the elements, which is the common denominator of all these books. most 'modern', you can feel some thelemic influence here and there
tl;dr
>I want the TRUE Golden Dawn experience
green book
>I want some form of self-initiation, I don't care for the lineage
red book
>I just want to practice magic
blue book
also:
>baby's first steps into ritual magic
Damien Echols - High Magic
this is an entire book that builds you towards LBRP, a ritual that is a starting point for all of the books above
>pure technique, no-nonsense, minimum clutter but still containing valid forms of self-initiation without prescribed time-frames
