Been reading it for years, it's easy to get confused since the story is a mess no matter what.
I don't remember that much myself, but I'll try to say what I remember:

>On prevous episodes, Mike had started to reconnect with Lucy, but decided to fold and crawl back to his cheating girfriend, Sandy, for no good reason.
>This made him and Lucy to break ties again, and made Lucy shut herself more towards basically everyone.
>Mike is feeling guilty over it, specially since Augustus, who is now basically Lucy's pet, told him that what Mike did to her has messed her up.
>Mike has been reminiscing about the whole situation, and is having trouble connecting with other people, too, since he feels like shit.
>He also sperged out against his old friends before, which increased his distance towards them even more.
>He had recently entered the track team, which was an activity he liked, and that could potentially give him some direction and new interactions. He did well and was liked by the track team.
>On the track team, there was a dude (James), who fancied him. They both went on a non-romantic date together. Mike said to him he had a GF, and both of them parted ways peacefully.
>David suddenly entered the track team, and immediately stole James' heart.
>Augustus told mike to stop going to the outside area of the school during recess, since 'it was the only place Lucy could hangout'
>Mike tried to convince people not to go outside, since he couldn't go out. James and David ignored his request, and went together, leaving Mike alone.

In short, Mike is feeling guilty and lonely, with an increasing number of people leaving him behind.
