Why are there always people like you in every gaming community? You desperately cling to an imagined hierarchy based on how consistently someone has obsessively curated their hobby, terrified that newcomers might expose your flimsy sense of superiority. You act like enjoying something casually is some unforgivable crime, bitterly resenting anyone whose life didn’t revolve around gaming and plastic cartridges for thirty uninterrupted years. God forbid someone comes back after a break and finds joy in it again, right?
You’re gatekeeping pixels and nostalgia, gatekeeping the very concept of fun itself. If your entire sweaty ego hinges on how long you’ve hoarded old systems and games, you’re far more embarrassing than the guy excitedly rediscovering his childhood favorites. Maybe touch grass, or better yet, touch soap—because the only thing here that’s genuinely embarrassing is your sweaty, angry desperation to police someone else’s harmless happiness.
Oh, and for the record - I’ve never stopped playing video games, and my current collection of mint systems and games rivals just about anyones. And yes, my collection of video game magazines too - as your seething jealousy illustrates.
