Here is my theory for how Pragmata plays out.

The AI robot workers on the moon developed a consciousness and is trying to free themselves from slavery and escape. Hugh and Diana are AI robots themselves created by the company as damage control. Hugh's backstory and his relationship with Diana is totally fabricated by the company. The desire to protect her is meant to keep Hugh(You) obedient and not question what's going on.

Diana might be secretly in on it and manipulating you but will probably turn good by the end.
