MY expectations were always higher than just one million, and I took every opportunity I got to voice that Relink needed to do actual gangbusters because of just how long it took to get it out the door.
And in the end I was right, it underperformed, because grub's been in a downward spiral of literally begging for more money ever since. All the shit they started pulling in just a matter of weeks, on top of grub losing its leadership months later, is not the sign of an agency riding high in the wake of a successful medium/big-budget game release. I saw the same thing happen with Destiny in the same year: first they'll roll out their corporate jargon and tell consumers and shareholders that it all worked out, only to not moments later start clearing out the offices and being caught in a loop of begging for more money to do the bare minimum, not getting enough money, and having to cut back on more and more of the bare minimum.
And maybe I'm wrong, maybe Relink was a success and I'm just seeing things that aren't there. But you know what I haven't seen? An actual face for our new management to assure us we weren't booted to skeleton crew tier.
