I knew you'd post the Dawn of War mod. Is it actually any good? Been a long time since I've played that. I know that something like the imperial guard "feels" more like Russian federation, but for some fun gameplay I image that something like Donbass militias are the guard (loyal to the imperium of course). Who are getting shelled by chaos guard shelling and then Russian Space Marines come and grind through them. When you add in some randomness (for the deeply steps) it makes it interesting (because while Ukranda having no chance is realistic it doesn't make it fun to play)

There is a point where life really does imitate art. I pictured Cadian type guardsmen who've turned to Khorne, because well years of civil war in the Donbass makes them a bit blood thirsty. But you also have the catchphrase "Kyiv stands!" as they are willing to fight until the last chaos guardsman and give as much blood as possible to the blood god. The idea was fucking satire in my head at first in 2022 but it seems to be coming true.
