>I've seen many plebs complain about anime characters always looking "white" (blond hair, blue eyes, pale skin) and how Japanese blatantly worship Europeans.
Anime character design is an imitation of Disney cartoons from the first half of the 20th century either directly or indirectly through prior anime.
>I always thought that anime characters are their own race, but nevertheless, how does one differentiate whether a character is white or Asian as the author intended, assuming there is no confirmation from such (eg. AOT's plot point of ethnicity and differentiating Mikasa from the rest of Shiganshina as an anomaly, or the weird stereotypically American character that is more American than regular Americans)?
