It's a brutally, brutally, brutally punishing RPG Maker game/dungeon dweller, and extremely punishing. One of the mechanics is that you can fuck other people in your party in the altar of the God/Goddess of fucking, for some gain. Though as is EVERYTHING in Fear & Hunger, it's a double sided "blessing".
The little girl is probably the first character you will get into your party. She is useless in a fight. She serves no purpose. At two times other characters will ask you to sacrifice her for good gains. Keeping your own character alive in F&H is a miracle, keeping the little girl alive through the game is straight impossible.
Her being alive at the end is, also, needed for the true ending of the game.
