The delusional post-hoc rationalizations of egalitarian propagandists, shamelessly, slimily congratulating themselves to and justify their own revolutions and prop up the illusion of "legitimacy" for their OWN power.
The fact is, the aristocratic orders of yesteryear weren't outmatched by the commoners - they were outmatched by either a) other dissident nobles, or b) the cream of the aspirant elite, i.e. the petit-bourgeoisie. These are ALWAYS the forces of revolutionary agitation in homogenous societies, not the dispositionally conservative masses. Look at the American War of Independence. Look at the French Revolution. Look at the Russian Revolution. Look at any other great social or political upheaval throughout history. Same story every single time - the story of the organized minority obliterating the disorganized majority, for good or for ill, and screw what the commoners think. The ONLY advantage the disorganized masses have on their own is numbers, and that's been proven not to count for much.
Read the scientific literature, anon. The noble genetic stock of a society of social decline (such as medieval Europe or the Roman empire) has been proven to be measurably superior in every single way to contemporary commoners, consistently - particularly once monogamy was instituted by Christians. Even in other societies, like ours, this is still generally the case; just not as strongly, and the "virtues" being selected for by the new capitalist investor elite are different from the virtues selected for and cultivated by generation after generation of breeding and indoctrination into chivalry and noblesse oblige.
