And legally having that Right means you can therefore use things you own to do it with.
[It used to be you could buy nasty things - e.g. a kitchen knoife, or a can of alkili oven-cleaner but it was a crime to carry it around in your handbag, as it's then a weapon you had no Right to use]
Remember, it's only that you can't use 'self-defence' as a reason to buy a gun, it doesn't say you can't use your 'hunting-gun' or 'target-shooting-gun' for self-defence after you bought it... and now there's a Right to defend yourself.
