Obviously I won't know the finer details but it's pretty easy to look at a side by side picture to determine if I want a graphics/armour/character customisation/UI/city overhaul mod. Same with short videos for combat mods. Everything else is a case of going by the mod description and reviews, in which case plenty are no-brainer addons like the one that lets you climb ladders.
