This seems like a thing that happens in Toriyama properties. I specifically remember getting that kind of dissonance in Dragon Quest Builders where the idea is that humanity has literally forgotten how to build fucking anything but... how has anyone survived? How does anyone have clothes? Like the basic idea of putting a roof over your head? I get it's a silly premise for a kid's game but still, it would have bothered me as a kid too.
