What if the idea is that you meet as strangers, or it's building intrigue and the like?
A name is a powerful thing, and I pity you if you go into a roleplay scenario and just assume that everything you see on screen is available information for that scenario

There is more to be said for getting into the mind of your character in that moment and forgetting you're the meat behind the screen than you can ever know
