50s "prosperity" was pretty much a lie when you look at this decade from any real scrutiny. Most cars during this time were also cheap dogshit land barges that had things like really tacky chrome trim that fell off and cheap sheet metal bodies that were prone to rusting. That's why most cars from the 1950s you still see on the road today are either resto-modded to hell and back or simply look like complete shit. I see Ford Model Ts and Model As unrestored on the road in better conditions than most of these rust buckets
