Well my concern is what happens to all these animals that die and become spiritual? Surely an animal can undergo spiritual ascension like a human could? Again there's billion years of life on earth, and evolution is capable of producing a super predator in the physical world. So what precludes there's not a big hungry animal that dominates the chain? The Chaoskampf points to them being defeated by the supreme authority, but the Ouroboros points them to be eternal. I doubt it's just one simple victory and defeated forever. Hell, for most of Earth's history it was ruled by beasts, we are a very small blink in the planet's eye. Probably the 'apocalypse' is just the fall of civilization and returning to an age of beasts, casually swept aside in the tide of left.

This gets into the problem of 'why X succeeded where Y failed' if the spirits were good relationship with the physical counterparts, why were they not assisted? Epiricus and the Deists just believed they were ideal forms we could get closer to but wouldn't be burdened with leadership or even know about us. Considering the size of the universe, that might make a bit of sense.
