I woulda whole-heartedly agreed with you0 before, and it took me years to realize that the woman I was dating wasn't pitying me or just being polite. She legitimately enjoyed being around me, which is something I'm still coming to grips with many years down the line. I think that's what a lot of us need, that person that is just persistent enough (you have to meet them halfway) to make you realize you are actually worthwhile to be around.

I still to my core think associating me must be torture for anyone and that I'm being selfish for exposing myself to them, but every now and then I find myself forgetting, which part of me considers weakness, yet in the end, it's the closest to progress I've gotten.
