Hard to say, really. If I recall correctly, he finishes his gaslight arm training by the age of 15, so it all really depends on how long after it takes for the smoke war to kick off, if he's shipped to the frontlines immediately or how long the war lasts, or how long he spent as a hobo.

We just don't have a chronological timeline for these events, it's all muddied. It doesn't help that Gregor's (and by extension Hermann) entire backstory is just

And nothing else is clarified about them.
It's probably safe to assume Gregor is in his mid thirties.
