I felt a little disrespectful taking so many pictures, but I followed all the rules, purified myself whenever I could at the springs and prayed to every shrine I saw, hopefully that was enough to gain forgiveness of the kami for photographing their shit like a Chinese tourist.

I don't know much about Shinto, I know a lot about east Asian Buddhism, so where it overlaps I know a little but I really know nothing yeah. The shrines looked to me pretty much entirely stone and wood, I didn't see any metal in use beside this one Kannon statue that was near the bottom.
See the 1001 kannon temple if you're into Kyoto btw, by far the coolest temple ive ever seen.
