It's understandable how it could happen. The internet, news, literally every form of media is full of discouragement. So you adapt your models to be encouraging and now you're an "enabler." Of course the media, malicious as they are only wants to report on the dirt. You don't want to plan your models around schizos but you have to consider them. Did you think it would be easy?
