also might as well post a screenshot of the character screen while I'm at it. R1999 is pretty simple, you can max out characters very easily vs gacha games that might have things like rng stats on accesories or equipment gacha.
Theres no equipment gacha but we do have ingame forms of equipment called Psychubes. These are ALL obtained as part of events or game modes. There are no rng stats on them, you level them up normally and then they stay maxed although amping them to max is a bit expensive so people tend to pick and choose which ones they want. Theres a lot of good general ones then a lot of hyper specific ones
Dupes can be strong in this game but the games designed around 0 dupes and like 99% of character kits are good at 0 dupes and the 1% are fixed by having other characters/psychubes to support them. Generally people just dupe their favorites or limiteds which are easier to get dupes for due to the sparking system.
Reverse 1999 uses an afflatus (elemental system) so you're expected to eventually have around 4 teams to cover each afflatus. Later game modes will force you to deploy up to 2-4 teams so thats why its better to build wide rather than get max dupes on one character because a fully maxed out meta character can only be used in one team anyway. Dont worry too much about this though at the start, its more endgame related.
Fortunately Reverse 1999 is very very good at supporting old characters with a system called euphoria which is just retro active buffing. Some of the strongest characters in the game right now are launch characters, although the strongest are the latest busted limiteds of course. But theres really only a handful of 6* right now you can spook and say "dammit".
