Today l got a lesson on game design, the Food Biome expansion (or something like that) mod adds spices made from Cactus (salt) green fruit (sugar) and hemp (pepper) plus they also added cinnamon as a new crop...
The problem? You need to dry these crops first before preparing them (meaning there's two cooking instances involved in the creation of spices)
And dry green fruit specifically is edible...
Now I know why Chris made alcohol a trade good instead of something consumable my stupid donuts eat that shit and it only feeds them like 5 nutrition so they eat more and more when I put the dry fruit in a container...
And the worst part? It takes a 50 cooking skill chef 4 hours to make one of those, and you need 6 to make one bag of spice, which also takes another 4 hours to make.

To put this into perspective:
A 50 cooking Skill chef would produce 24 Rums and Grog a day given enough supplies, so they roughly make one an hour.
Spices are way more profitable than alcoholic beverages if you know where to sell them, but still. It takes a whole day to produce enough dry fruits to procure one bag of spices, meaning that you actually need more than a day to just make a single bag of sugar/pepper/salt/cinnamon

I might tinker a bit with the mod to reduce it because I find it ridiculously slow
