I find it interesting how outside of Smash Bros. where Sakurai intentionally leans into the default guest aesthetic, Nintendo tries its hardest to shift away from the Wii era Miis' intentionally offbeat caricature look. Almost all of the Miis they use for presets and promo material they've used since the Wii U use cutesy aesthetic anime eyes and hairstyles that add volume to the head that didn't exist during the Wii.
