There were a lot of polls saying different things. Generally, Trump's immigration policies were already popular, and most voters assumed (1) that the Democrats had moderate policies which were similar to those supported by the public and (2) Trump had a much more extreme immigration reductionist platform than they supported. However, in reality, Trump always had a campaign platform that was slightly left of center relative to the overall population.

Today, the average voter has reached a point of believing that immigration levels are much, much, much too high and they see it in their everyday lives constantly. They go to work and the boss lectures them about how Americans are useless and more foreign labor is needed. They walk through the neighborhood and see plenty of foreigners and none many people of their own kind. Close to 50% of the population is second generation or first generation and the people who've had family roots here for hundreds of years are sick and tired of dating foreigners and struggling to find people who are from their own homeland to befriend and to marry. On the internet, foreigners are all they can meet, and IRL they can't meet someone very easily either. Even without knowing the severity of the immigration situation from anecdotal learned experience, data is proving that every problem in life is caused by immigration now.

It's time to deport ALL OF THEM!
