Maximum and to a significantly lesser attempt, Links, were an attempt at God Link. Fusion and Synchro were absolutely not, especially since God Link debuted in 2007. Again, the only case for God Link even remotely being an analog to these mechanics is because 2 or more monsters become one, which is entirely asinine since God Link still has those two or more cards retain their properties separately but only directionly combines them with a Maximum/Linked style effect.
