[1/2] Gotta get this off my chest, Anons.

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. I absolutely hate the Toby-trend of making the player the "bad guy" in some way, shape, or form. Any Undertale run that isn't true-pacifist and Delatrune's entire premise hinges on "player bad" and y'know what?

Fuck that.

I can completely understand "the red soul" having negative consequences for Kris. I also made a schizorant about how it's not all sunshine and rainbows for the red soul, either. I find it fascinating that a soul is the "player character" and we are actively in conflict with our "vessel". That's just really cool storywriting.

But any and all talk about how it's "we the player" and "we ARE the soul", as if the player is in fact isekai'd and inserting themself into the character, just pisses me off.

I have downloaded this videogame to play the videogame. I will play it how I please and experience it how I wish. I am in fact above the consequences, because I can just do a fresh install and run whenever I wish. This meta-narrative bullshit entirely stomps on anything cool that could be done with Chara and Frisk in Undertale, or the Red Soul in Deltarune, because "it's all the player's fault for playing the game" is the intended and accepted throughline.
