I wouldn't say they're particularly difficult, but honestly it's been so many years since I was a green JP learner that I am a bad judge of what is easy or hard anymore. The SNES games have nice, slightly larger fonts that are easier to read than, say, a Final Fantasy game of similar vintage, which is a huge plus for early learners.
