If you didn't stop their argument you were gonna get unwanted attention from the people around you. Worse, these two were starting to give you a headache.
And so, with some choice chuuni wording for Yumi and some quotes from The Baron's Bandit for Ruby, you get them to calm down.
With that done, you decide to actually start doing something instead of talking. You considered retracing your steps with Yumi, and asked Ruby to begin considering what might've happened.
But before you can do anything you're interrupted by Mel and Herta returning with some flowers in hand.
"Master! Master!" Herta said, followed by a less conspicuous Mel. "We found these on the ground, left behind! Master, we picked up all the trash like the useless slaves of yours we are~"
"You just asked if I could help out carrying them..." Mel said to the goddess.
You gave the flowers a good look: Red spider lilies and white chrysanthemums. Huh.
"Master, I found out that these flowers were definitely tampered with! It had a magical signature and everything." Herta said.
"Is that everything that maso-bitch head of yours could find? I'll have to punish you later if you keep this up." You were happy you finally had something to work with.
"Yes, Master!" Herta looked fired up.
At that moment Ayane returned.
"My love," Said she with a bow, "I was able to ask about where everything was purchased."
"Well done, dear." You said with some tenderness.
"Master," Ruby said while tapping into all the beauty of her voice, "I believe I have a good judgement of what could happen, and shall bring you my theories once we've seen everything."
"Well done, madame. Your wit and will are beyond compare." You complimented her, using a quote from her favorite book.
"Um, Master?" Mel said with bashful hope, "Even though I didn't really do much, except help in finding flowers and confirming there isn't any illusion magic, at least not in the usual sense, can I, uh..."
"Of course, Mel. You did a great job. You know to rely on me if things go badly." You told her with a smile. It was one she happily returned.
At that you decided to first look into the commercial side of things. Hopping between a few flower shops and Asian-themed stores was fun for everyone involved, but it sadly didn't lead anywhere.
And so, despite wanting to avoid having Herta exert herself too much, you ordered your goddess of a slave-wife to track what she'd found. While she assured you that this wouldn't take too much out of her, you still commanded her not to push herself too hard.
This led to a bit of a goose chase, though Ayane realized that this was bringing you back to one of the family shrines her father had for the deceased.
It was not a cemetery, but rather a place where the names and pictures of many deceased kitsune were in.
