Take a look at Scotland. Vacationed there and the coming in from the highlands, the far outskirts of Glasgow look genuinely Russian, just high-rise flats, warehouses, and scrub brush. But even some of the small towns just look decrepit. Not my pic and no idea where these flats are in Glasgow but it's kind of like that.
