Yeah. I went through something similar in high school. I had a crush on a classmate and was best friends with another girl who also was friends with my crush. It was three of us essentially.
The friend knew I had a crush and when I confessed to my crush she rejected me and told me she knew all along, presumably because the friend told her.
I was in a bad mental state after that. The next day my crush suggested going to her place to talk but I was so shocked by the earlier rejection and focused on it that I completely failed to read the hint. Afterwards I went cold turkey on her. I don't think she ever forgave me for being such an idiot.
The real kek moment in this is the friend turned out to have been crushing on me. A while later she stole my first kiss. I never saw her as a romantic interest and was essentially friendzoning her all along.
I want to agree with Kronii's hot mic phrase but I'd also have to add that men (and Kronii) are dumbasses.
