Zoomer here, went to sixth form (UK high school equiv) starting 2021. No there wasn't, everybody used to sit around on their phones, doomscrolling tiktok and snapchat. I had 2 friend groups, my old one of nerds who were cool enough to come out hiking at lunchtime with me, and I had a newer normie friend group of about 13 people who I tried in vein to make them go outside and it didn't work.

It would be the middle of summer, beautiful weather, and they wouldn't even leave the dingy shitty room to go outside. Let alone organizing a genuine interest as a club or hobby group. By the late 2010s the energy that would of been poured into something fun in the 2000s like a anime club had all eroded. All energy poured into just looking at some shitty faggot phone.

It got to the point that I started basically started feeling fucking sick being around everybody, I felt sick of the entire society. I ended up stumbling across a central resource library on the computers, 20 years and 1tb+ full of old school memories. Recordings from old sd digital cameras, 3mp photos. Some kids had spiky early 2000s hair, some had straightened windswept late 2000s hair. All of them were having 10x more fun than me, hanging out, having fun, smiling, joking. I had to walk back into reality from the pc seeing a bunch of people STARING AT THEIR FUCKING PHONES, barley acknowledging each other, doing nothing. It drove me to genuine despair.

I would of loved an anime club, I would of loved friends passionate about anime, I would of loved being there with the people in the pictures and videos I saw in 2011, rather than here in some fucking technological dystopia.

My older sister got me into anime, and attended the same school and anime was just as in vogue in the UK at the time as the USA, in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

TLDR: Zoomers have invested all their energy into misery, not an anime club! All human happiness teenagers used to experience has been destroyed.
