Are you even reading what you wrote? Even back from LC days there were people forming families, and working together and making friends at work, the city wouldn't have such high population density otherwise, and humans are social creatures by nature.
The main problem isn't expecting everyone is gonna stab you in the back, that's fucking retarded. The issue is expecting to never see them again cause death comes more casually in this setting.
